Ever dreamed of watching a fake movie trailer that was made just for fun?
Yeah, me too.
Cough. Anyway, now is your once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to do just that! For your viewing comes our production made on a non-existent budget and a borrowed point-and-shoot camera.
So enjoy. Clap at the end. Maybe give a standing ovation? ::crickets:: Okay, so that might be stretching it.
Disclosure: Yes, this movie was made using real swords. No, you don't have something in your ear and you did hear me correctly. My siblings in this film did indeed use real swords. Genuine, authentic, foam swords. You might want to keep that fact under your hat. ;-)
I was born a crybaby when it comes to the sweet, bittersweet, mushy, or gushy at its best. Movies and music particularly can run my emotions through the ringer. It’s a feminine thang, I guess. The following especially posses the ability to make it Niagara time for this girl:
1. The Bonny Banks O' Loch Lomond
I’m not even listening to this song at the moment and my eyes are welling up. No joke. It’s so…haunting…and…bittersweet…and…do you have a tissue?
2. The Fox and the Hound
“When you’re the best of friends, having so much fun together…” I sat down to watch this tearjerker not that long ago with my little brothers. Having not seen it in awhile, I cockily thought to myself, “Ah, this won’t affect me like it used to. I’ll just be here for moral support for the boys.”
Famous last words.
By the time we reached the part where the Widow was taking Todd the Fox to the game preserve and it began to rain, my own little rainstorm was taking place on my cheeks. Tear after big, fat rolling tear.
Oh, and the boys weren’t crying a lick. In fact, I don’t think it affected them at all. They just laughed at me.
3. Anne of Green Gables
So you might be thinking that this isn’t a particularly sad movie. But what about that part where Matthew dies in that green field, huh? And he tells Anne that she’ll always be his little girl? And-
Y’all, I am pitiful. Just pitiful. I’m tearing up right here and now in front of my computer screen.
4. Anne of Avonlea
Another movie that might not seem that sad. There’s always one scene that makes me cry though. That part where the joyful music begins when Anne returns home and she runs into Marilla’s arms. I know…no one is crying onscreen, but if the actors want to see some serious waterworks going on, they just need to turn around and look at me. Serious waterworks.
5. Beauty and the Beast
I positively sob at this movie when the Beast is dying and Belle is leaning over him crying. I can never make it through that scene without at least mentally yelling at poor Belle. Actually, I think I’ve done it out loud. “Tell him you love him! Tell him you love him!”
It’s a good thing I do, too, because she listens to me every time and he transforms into a handsome prince. Another cause for tears…happy ones, this time. ;)
6. Homeward Bound
I would recommend to never watch this one at night. At least if you have the “cry-hard-at-night-and-your-eyes-will-be-swollen-and-your-nose-will-look-like-Rudolph-the-Red-Nosed-Reindeer-in-the-morning” type of face. Like me. I don’t know what it is about happy music and long-lost pets racing into the arms of their ecstatic owners, but heartfelt reunions are my tissue’s downfall.
7. Tangled
This might quite possibly be my new favorite animated movie. Since it’s relatively new, I won’t spoil the ending for those of you who might not have seen it yet. But let me say…*sniff* *sniff* *sob* Awww! *more sniffles and more sobs* You get the idea, I’m sure.
8. Toy Story 3
It makes me cry and want to scoop up all of my old toys and hug them. That is all.
9. Charlotte's Web
And I have saved the best "bring on the tears" movie for last. It doesn’t matter what form this movie is in (animated or live action), I cannot make it through without tears welling up in my eyes. I was only three or four when I first saw the animated version and Elisabeth and I would sit and cry through it together even then. If you’re wondering why, let me gently fill you in.
The spider dies. She dies. The noble spider that we’ve come to know and love dies and there’s no magic pixie dust to bring her back.
Forget the popcorn—someone pass the Kleenex. :)
You might not be as bad as me, but are there any movies/songs that make you cry?
