It is a truth universally acknowledged that a rainy day becomes much cheerier when one is in possession of a turquoise umbrella.

Photo Challenge {Framed}

I've been thinking.

Yes, yes, I have. I've been thinking a lot. Would you like to know what I've been thinking about? You would?

Sorry, my thoughts are private. Go find your own thoughts.

Ha. Just messing with you lovely people on that bit. Of course I haven't been thinking. ;) However, it has crossed my mind that it would be fun to host a photo challenge.

So, instead of merely contemplating hosting one, I am. Hosting a photo challenge, that is.

Try to stay with me here.

Mowgli at heart? Nope, the little dude had just been swimming.

Photos that involve frames, actual photo frames within a photo, are very cool to me. Just check my mental dictionary with the turquoise cover and you'll see a photo with a textured or old frame beside the word "cool."

I think John could have been a 1940's silver screen heartthrob. I really do.

Here's the deal. You take a picture that involves a frame. (See examples above) It may showcase a person, pet, or anything you like. Being creative is the key. Then post your entry to your blog or photo sharing account and link up. It'd be great if you'd include this li'l button here, but it's purely optional:

Sound simple enough? Cool. Because after the deadline has passed, finalists will be chosen and then a voting poll will be added to the sidebar for the people to vote on their favorite. I love a democracy.

Oh, how could I forget? The winner will receive this:
"Paris Fleur" Necklace
Because I think Paris is cool, too. Just check the mental dictionary.

Mmkay, Mr. Linky may be found below. He's thinking that he would be thrilled if you linked up. I'm thinking that I would, too. ;-)

Photo challenge ends August 8th, 2011.

Portrait Contest Entries

Below are my entries for the portrait photo contest that Polka Dot is hosting. Please be sure to check it out as there are some really amazing prizes offered!
This is my youngest sister, Ellie.
This is my second to youngest brother, John.

Ellie, John, these are my blog readers. *round of handshakes commence* Sure glad to know you.

And now that the formalities are over, I'm off to a (Lord willing) productive day. My night was quite productive, let me tell you. I dreamed I was saving the world's little creatures. Mice that were being swept away by a river of water that gushed from the garden hose, bass fish that had somehow ended up in the chicken coop and were being pecked to death--I saved them all.

Now that's what I call productive.

Either that or I just have very odd dreams. Let's go with the former, shall we?

Photo Challenge Entry...and My Needless Struggle for Self-Control

Kara is hosting a fun Photo Challenge and the category is food...here is my entry:
I took this with the camera on my cell phone awhile back on our visit to an old-fashioned diner in North Georgia.

It was delicious.

Oh boy, I probably shouldn't be staring at it though. I'm not hungry at the moment, but that tall, refreshing glass of Coke with the ice stacked so high you can hear it clink. I want it. I
really, really want it.

But I will resist. It is late at night and drinking a tall, refreshing class of Coke will only keep me awake. So...must... have...some self-control...

Must...have...

Oh, wait, no Coke in our refrigerator.

I believe this issue has been nicely resolved for me. :)
