It is a truth universally acknowledged that a rainy day becomes much cheerier when one is in possession of a turquoise umbrella.

The Quest for the {Yellow} Dress

It's almost that time of year again! What time is that? Spri-ingtime! And with spring comes that much anticipated day to shop for a new spring outfit.

I have decided that this year, I want a yellow dress. A bright, happy, sunshiney yellow dress. *gasp* Not turquoise?

For shame, Erin.

Before you judge, take a look inside my closet. There is quite the assortment of colors as far as clothing goes. Turquoise, turquoise, blue, light blue, aquamarine, turquoise.

Yes, I know, quite the variety.

In other words, when your closet looks like it's been invaded by a swarm of turquoise umbrellas as well as the Smurfs, it's time to cut back a bit. Or so my sister tells me.

Whether or not one can have too much turquoise colored clothing is still up for debate.

Moving on--do you have any idea how trying it is to find a modest, affordable, and yet still cute yellow dress? Let me assure you, as far as my internet search for yellow dresses has gone, it is next to impossible. *sigh*

Oh, and my twin has decided that she wants a yellow dress as well, so this should be interesting if we do find two yellow dresses. I said we'll probably look like a pair of li'l chicks.

Peep, peep.

Fear not, I will keep you all updated on this thrilling search. ;-)

Do you shop for a new outfit in the spring and, if so, do you have a particular color that you gravitate toward?

Ugh, I know what you mean. And then you DO find this absolutely perfectly adorable dress...and the pricetag sinks it back to dreamland.

Me, I started work on this light blue-green thing (last summer) but the bodice didn't work out quite right and my inner seamstress had a hissy fit and gave up. So hopefully it'll be done by Easter.

I love white, actually...but yellow would be gorgeous too. Anything twirly and light. Works for me.

I do indeed get a new spring outfit every year. Usually I gravitate toward white... or pink. I just finished sewing my new spring dress actually. First year I sewed it myself instead of buying it. :D It's from a Vogue Vintage pattern, done in cream and pink.

Yellow is gorgeous though- but I know how you feel about finding something that's modest AND cute... super, super hard. :/ I hope you do find one!

Yes, I know how you feel about trying to find something modest (but still cute) and affordable! I love yellow, but it doesn't like me...

My sister and I have a problem of always buying the same things, and quite often we'll come out of our room and look at each other and say "You're wearing what I'm wearing!"
Hope you find what you're looking for!

:D You could make one, Erin! :)

This year, I actually did buy a spring/summer outfit. It's green...for the most part. :)

BTW: You're blog is so fun. :)

Bailey- Oh, I *love* white, too...that's my second color choice if I don't find a yellow dress. Good luck on finishing your blue/green outfit. :)

Bethany- Thanks! :)

Res- Oooh, I checked it out and it is very cute!

Sarah Grace- *high fives* ;) Hope you find one!

Lizzy- It sounds beautiful! :) And agreed...it's definitely a problem. :/

Sarah- The same thing happens to me and my sister all the time...too funny! :)

Anna- I would love to make one except that my every attempt at sewing a dress is sort of...well, an attempt. ;) I'm keeping my eye out for cute patterns though just in case. And thank you! :)

I hadn't thought to check there until you mentioned it, but I visited and have fallen 'in wuv' with the 'What's up, Buttercup?' dress they have there. Squee! Cuteness. :)
