It is a truth universally acknowledged that a rainy day becomes much cheerier when one is in possession of a turquoise umbrella.

Some Lovely Springtime Surprises

So I was setting up for a photo shoot in my grandparents' garden the other day when I noticed a female cardinal flitting about the arbor that is currently covered at the top with greenery.

She appeared to be carrying something in her mouth...a moth, to be precise. She then proceeded to hop into the greenery and disappear. I could hear ecstatic peeps upon her arrival and then, I imagine, tiny sounds of swallowing followed soon after. Rest in peace, poor moth, rest in peace. :)

I ventured closer for a better look...hmmm, not much of a view for a short person. ;) Undaunted, I grabbed an old stool and climbed on it with my camera in tow...

...And found a nest with a soft and feathery surprise or two.
Or three. :D
These cute li'l fellas didn't seem too disturbed by my visit...quite possibly due to the fact that they were napping. The parents, on the other hand...

Well, they met my arrival with some trepidation, anxiety, and-

Okay, so their looks were openly hostile. :)

Papa Cardinal lurking in the shadows.

Sheesh, you'd have thought I was up there harming the kids or something! :D However, for fear of sending Mama and Papa Cardinal into cardiac arrests, I climbed down after a minute or two, content with the knowledge that at least the babies didn't seem afraid of me.

"AHHHHHHHHHH!!!!"
Maybe I spoke too soon. lol Actually, I think that Junior was expecting a handout...try to imagine that you're an unfortunate worm wriggling in Mama Cardinal's beak as she leans forward, closer and closer...

Hmmm, quite an interesting perspective. ;)

Just Around the Corner

Yep, graduation is drawing closer and closer...next month to be exact! Since we haven't had any professional senior photos made yet, we settled (for now) with a few portraits in front of my favorite backdrop...the black sheet! :D Different, maybe, but it works nonetheless.

Elisabeth might not appreciate me sharing this because she didn't like any of the photos made of her. *grin* But alas, there is nothing she can do about it. Why? Well, I happen to own the camera...therefore, I maintain sole copyright to these photos and can share them anytime I please. *mwhahaha* ;) Besides, this actually might induce her to leave a comment on my blog...do you realize I've had this blog almost an entire year and my own twin sister has never left a comment? Then again, I've never left one on hers either, but...well, that's different. lol I'm not sure why, but I'll think about it and let you know the answer. :D

Moi...the perhaps slightly wacky owner/operator of this blog. :D

And one of us together. :) Oh, and the previous statement about, uh, my sister never leaving comments on my blog and vice versus? I've decided that there is no difference, but perhaps I might be persuaded to comment on her blog if she did a similar post...you know, sharing pictures of me that I might not care for. But there's just one problem with that, you see. Why?

I own the camera. :D

Happy Birthday, Dad!!

As you can guess from my title, today is my dad's 45th birthday! Dad is a wonderful father, husband, pastor, friend...the list just goes on! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, Dad!!!!

Dad on his wedding day...isn't he handsome? :)

Mom and Dad

Dad, Mom, Erin, and Elisabeth (don't ask me which twin is which, 'cause I don't know! lol)

Dad

John and Alexander wanted to give their daddy a present just from them, so here's what I came up with:

Alexander opted for Dad's work uniform and old boots, while John decided on the "preacher's clothes" as he calls it. :D Don't they look cute? *shhh* Don't tell Dad...they haven't given it to him yet! :)

If any of you have wondered at my absence, our computer has had a nasty virus. *ARGG* Hopefully, it is better now, and I will be back to being a *regular* blogger! :D
